Terms of Use
In short: KeySmooshy is free to use, it's a toy for little ones meant to be used with a parent nearby, and it's offered "as is".
Welcome to KeySmooshy ("KeySmooshy", "we", "us", "our"), a free browser-based sensory play experience for toddlers and young children aged 2 and up. By using this website you agree to these Terms of Use. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
1. Who may use KeySmooshy
KeySmooshy is designed to be played by young children under the supervision of a parent or another responsible adult. The adult who opens the game is the "user" for the purposes of these terms and is responsible for how the game is used. The parent menus, settings and the feedback form are intended for adults (18+) only.
2. Free service, no account
KeySmooshy is provided free of charge. No registration, account, purchase or subscription is required, and there are no ads. We may change, pause or discontinue any part of the game at any time, without notice.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the site or the feedback form for anything unlawful, abusive, or to send spam, advertising or harmful content;
- try to disrupt, overload, probe or gain unauthorized access to the site, its server or the feedback system;
- copy, resell or republish the game or its code as your own, or frame it inside another website, without our written permission.
4. Your feedback and requests
We love hearing from parents, and KeySmooshy develops based on your ideas. When you send us a review, suggestion or request, you agree that we may use it freely to improve the game, without any obligation to you and without compensation. We'll never publish your name or personal details without asking you first. We can't promise to build every request, but we read every one.
5. Intellectual property
The KeySmooshy name, design, code, sounds and text are owned by us and protected by law. The emoji characters in the game are displayed using your device's own emoji font; their artwork belongs to the respective owners (such as Apple, Google or Microsoft). You may use KeySmooshy for personal, non-commercial play.
6. No warranty
KeySmooshy is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted availability, or freedom from errors. KeySmooshy is a toy for fun and sensory play. It is not an educational, therapeutic or medical product and makes no developmental claims.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any loss or damage arising from the use of KeySmooshy, including damage to devices, keyboards or screens, lost or changed files, or actions triggered by a child pressing keys (see Health & Safety). Supervision of the child and the device is always the responsibility of the adult. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when they last changed. Continuing to use KeySmooshy after a change means you accept the updated terms.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel. Any dispute will be heard exclusively by the competent courts in the Tel Aviv-Jaffa district, except where the law of your country of residence gives you a mandatory right to sue locally.
Privacy Policy
In short: the game itself collects nothing. No accounts, no ads, no tracking, no analytics, no cookies. The only personal details we ever receive are what you choose to write in the feedback form.
1. Playing the game
Everything in the game happens inside your browser. Key presses, taps, drags and sounds are processed on your device and are never sent to us. We don't use cookies, local storage, analytics, advertising, social media plugins or any third-party tracking. Your settings (categories, sounds, icon size) live only in the open page and reset when you close it.
2. The feedback form
If you choose to send us feedback, we receive:
- Your name (required, so we know who we're talking to);
- Your message (required);
- Your email address (optional, only if you'd like a reply).
Please don't include sensitive information, such as health details, or details about your child beyond what's needed for your request.
How it's handled: the form is sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to our server, which immediately forwards it by email to our inbox using Resend, an email delivery service. The message is not saved in any database on our website. Resend keeps a copy of sent emails for a limited time under its own privacy policy, and the message then stays in our mailbox for as long as needed to handle it.
Why we use it: only to read your message, improve KeySmooshy, and reply to you if you gave us an email address. Our legal basis is your consent, which you give by sending the form and which you can withdraw at any time.
3. Technical data
Like almost every website, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical logs (IP address, date and time, the page requested, and browser type) to keep the site running and secure. To block spam, our server also holds the IP address of each feedback submission in temporary memory for up to 24 hours. This data is not used to identify you, build profiles, or for marketing.
4. Sharing
We never sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we don't share it with advertisers. It's processed only by the service providers needed to run the site (our hosting provider and Resend), or disclosed if required by law. These providers may be located outside your country, including in the United States, and are bound by their own privacy and security commitments.
5. How long we keep it
We keep feedback emails only as long as they're useful for answering you or improving the game, and delete them on request.
6. Security
We use HTTPS encryption, strict input checks and length limits on every field, spam and rate limiting, and we don't store form data on the website. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we work to protect what you send us.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under Israel's Protection of Privacy Law, the EU/UK GDPR, or US state privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict its use, and to withdraw consent. To make a request, send us a message through the feedback form (include an email address so we can confirm). You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority, such as Israel's Privacy Protection Authority.
8. Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If we ever start collecting more data, we'll say so here first.
Children's Privacy
KeySmooshy is made for children to play with, but it does not collect any personal information from children. The game has no chat, no accounts, no camera or microphone access, no ads, no in-app purchases and no links in the play area that lead children out of the game.
The feedback form is for parents and adults only. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13 (or the minimum age in your country, such as 16 in parts of the EU), in line with laws like the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please tell us and we'll delete it promptly.
Health & Safety Notice
โ ๏ธ Please always stay with your child while they play.
Photosensitivity
KeySmooshy shows bright colors, moving shapes, confetti and changing backgrounds. A very small number of people may experience seizures when exposed to certain visual patterns or flashing lights. If your child or anyone in your family has a history of epilepsy or seizures, consult a doctor before playing. Stop immediately if your child shows signs such as dizziness, eye or muscle twitching, disorientation or any involuntary movement. You can turn off "Sparkles & Confetti" in the parent settings.
Screen time
Health organizations such as the World Health Organization and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend little to no screen time for very young children, and short, adult-supervised sessions as they grow. Please follow your pediatrician's advice, keep sessions short, take breaks, and play together.
Sound
Keep the device volume at a comfortable, low level. Young children's ears are sensitive. Avoid headphones for young children.
Your device
- "Toddler Lock" captures most key presses, but a web browser cannot block some system shortcuts (such as the Windows key, Alt+Tab, Alt+F4 or Ctrl+Alt+Del). Close other apps and save your work before letting a child play.
- Keep drinks and food away, and watch for enthusiastic smashing that could damage a keyboard or screen.
- On iPad and iPhone, use Guided Access to keep little hands inside the game.
- Supervise cables and chargers and keep the device on a stable surface.
Accessibility Statement
We want KeySmooshy to be enjoyable for every family, including parents and children with disabilities. We aim for the parent-facing parts of the site (menus, settings, the feedback form and this page) to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, in the spirit of Israeli Standard 5568.
What we've done
- Menus and settings work with a keyboard, and Esc opens or closes the parent controls.
- Buttons and form fields have clear text labels for screen readers.
- Text is written in plain language, and the layout adapts to phones, tablets and computers.
- The game responds to any key, any tap and any drag, so children with limited fine motor control can play.
- Visual effects (confetti) and sound can each be turned off.
Known limitations
The play area is a sensory toy built around sight, sound and touch, so some parts of the experience can't be fully conveyed by screen readers. Optional word labels can be shown under each picture in the settings.
Tell us
If you run into an accessibility barrier, or need something adjusted for your child, please let us know through the feedback form. Accessibility requests get priority.
